Michelle Lane, CWP

Owner of Sampaguita Lane

I started my journey into wedding planning much like others in my field, by planning my own.

I had been managing corporate events for the tech world for years. It was the same story year to year. Conferences, off-sites, holiday parties… it became monotonous. Then I got engaged and I found the creative outlet I had been looking for.

A little over a year of planning later, finding the perfect place settings, redoing the seating chart for the fifth time, making sure the flowers were just right, a million emails and details later, I was ready. I felt it.

Come the day of my wedding, I had nothing to worry about. I mean, ZERO. I had checked every box. I trusted every person involved. I floated through the day, so comforted and secure in my own preparations. I could actually enjoy myself. I could relax.

After that, I knew I had more to give. I wanted to bring that same sense of calm to other couples. Your wedding day is one of the most important day of your lives. The last thing you should have to worry about is if your hair and makeup will be done on time or who has the rings.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that wedding planning isn’t stressful or promise that everything will go perfectly. But it doesn’t have to be harder than it needs to be. I’m here to help you alleviate that anxiety and give you that sense of security we all want, so that you don’t have to worry about a thing on your big day.

Where does all this assurance come from? I’m a firm believer in a strong foundation. I started my hospitality career at Culinary School before pivoting into corporate events. I’ve worked at numerous, renowned event spaces alongside distinguished event production companies. I went a step further and received my Certification in Wedding Planning from California State University East Bay. I’ve worked in both front and back of the house, understanding the importance of every role and what it takes to make a wedding not only successful but memorable.

I’ve done it all. Let me do it all for you.

“SUMPA KITA, I PROMISE YOU.”

When starting my wedding planning company, I wanted a way to honor my filipino heritage and evoke the love and devotion that weddings bring. From this story, Sampaguita Lane blossomed.

Sampaguita [sam-puh-gee-tuh] or Philippine Jasmine is the national flower of The Philippines. It’s widely considered the flower of undying love and devotion. There is much folklore around the sampaguita flower’s origins but most commonly, it begins with a Princess and her Prince.

When the Princess was left to reign over her kingdom after her father’s unexpected passing, she asked for the guidance of a neighboring Prince. Over time the two fell deeply in love. Then war broke out. Before going off to battle, along a cliffside, the Prince and Princess professed their unyielding love for one another. “Sumpa kita” they vowed, “I promise you.” Tragically, the Prince never returned and the Princess, stricken with grief, died of a broken heart. She was laid to rest on the same cliffside where they proclaimed their devotion, and the sampaguita flower is said to have first bloomed from her resting place.
